Note:

Policies and regulations in this section pertain to classified and non-certificated staff and cover all categories of clerical personnel, food services personnel, maintenance and custodial personnel, bus drivers, etc.  The terms Support Staff, Classified Staff, and Non-Certificated Staff are used interchangeably in this document.

All support staff positions shall be established initially by the Board.  The District shall provide auxiliary services to the instructional program which provide a safe and efficient transportation system, a well-balanced hot lunch program, an effective and efficient maintenance and custodial program, an efficient business services program and clerical and other support services to the certificated and administrative staff.

All actions involving classified personnel shall be accomplished under the basic guidelines of fairness and respect for human dignity, longevity and performance.

Definitions

All non-certificated employees of the District shall be covered under this policy. Employees shall be classified as follows:

1.    A full time classified employee is a twelve-month employee whose position requires full-time, year-round employment and who is paid on a salary basis.  Such employees shall include those that work in the administrative office and the custodial, maintenance and transportation departments.

2.    A school term classified employee is a nine or 10-month employee whose position requires full-time employment only for the period associated with the school year and its immediate preparatory and post-year periods and who are paid on a salary basis.  Such employees include school secretaries, paraprofessionals and food service staff.  The work schedule for school term employees will be based on the official school calendar.

3.    A part time classified employee is one who is hired for less than a regular working day and who is paid on an hourly basis.  Such employees include bus drivers, part-time paraprofessionals, etc.
