File: GDBA - Support Staff Salary SchedulesThe Board of Education shall adopt a schedule or schedules for salaries to be paid to persons selected for all classified positions. Each employee shall be placed on the salary schedule appropriate for his job classification and in accordance with his training and experience. All employees shall receive no less than the current minimum wage established by federal law.
Such schedules shall take into account the qualifications required, the responsibilities of the position and the number of years the employee has been in service with the district.
The wages or salary of an employee shall begin at the time the employee is to report for duty. Wages or salary shall be paid regularly on such calendar dates as are established by the Board.
Movement from one skill level to another shall be made by July 1 when the employee demonstrates that he has obtained the skill level required for such movement.
Exception: New employees shall be eligible for movement to a new skill level after the one year anniversary date of beginning employment upon supervisor's recommendation. Subsequent skill level movement for these employees shall be made only by July 1 when the employee demonstrates the required skill level.
If the Board declares a fiscal emergency during a budget year as allowed by state law, it may reduce salaries for all employees on a proportional basis.
Longevity Placement
For purposes of determining longevity placement on the salary schedule, experience prior to July 1, 1988 of half time or more for a full year shall count as full time. No credit shall be given for less than half time. Supporting documentation for any up-date of service time prior to July 1, 1988 shall be provided by the employee.
After July 1, 1988, half time or more for a full year in the district shall count as one half year and less than half time for a full year shall not be counted. A full-time assignment shall counted as full time.
Longevity pay will commence with receipt of the memorandum of employment at the beginning of their 10th year for classified employees. The first contract period must be at least six months in duration to counted as one year.
If a person quits his job and then returns to work, the count of his years of longevity in the district will begin anew. However, longevity which has been lost
due to a previous resignation may be re-earned by remaining on the job three years upon re-employment.
Credit towards longevity will not be granted during any period of absence.
A person on an approved leave will not lose credit years towards longevity but will not earn credit toward longevity while on leave.
Involuntary leave such as a lay off will not hurt employee longevity credit. However, credit toward longevity will not be granted during the period of lay off.
