File: KEC - Public Concerns/Complaints about Instructional ResourcesProcedures which apply to the selection of books and library materials by the professional staff shall be applied to any review of library collections. Books and materials judged to be unacceptable on the basis of the criteria for selection may be recommended to the principal for removal from the library.
Questions or objections regarding the value, relevancy, suitability or use of library books or materials shall be reduced to writing and specific questions and objections shall be noted together with the reasons.
A board of review which shall include a librarian, school administrator, member of the Board of Education, a citizen at large and the school attorney shall be established by the Board. The board of review shall consider all questions and objections concerning library books and materials, shall make a record of its hearings and deliberations, and shall make recommendations to the Board of Education regarding all questions and objections brought before it.
The Board of Education shall receive and consider the recommendations of the board of review before making final decisions regarding questions and objections to library books and materials.
