File:  JHBA - Tardiness

In order for education to be affective the students must be in class before the tardy bell rings ready to begin working.

A.  In Classroom:  Students are to be in class when the tardy bell rings.

B.  Excused Tardiness:  Tardiness is excused for:

1.  Bus being late

2.  Written excuse from another teacher

3.  Administrative excuse

UNEXCUSED   TARDY

When a teacher is responsible for a student´s tardiness to another class, a written or oral communication is required between teachers for the tardiness to be excused.

A.  Two warnings:  A student will receive two warnings for unexcused tardiness from any class.

B.  Third Unexcused tardy and all additional unexcused tardies will result in a one day in school suspension for each offense.

C.  Three unexcused tardiness from any class will be considered as an unexcused absence.  Parents will be notified either orally or written concerning unexcused tardiness. 

D.  The second, three unexcused tardiness from any class will be considered as a second unexcused absences.  Parents will be notifies either orally or written concerning the unexcused tardiness and the school shall require a meeting between the student´s parents or guardians and appropriate school personnel to review and evaluate the reasons for the student being tardy.

E.  Multiple of three tardy's will be considered as an unexcused absence.  The Truancy Policy will apply after the second unexcused absence for all other unexcused absences occurring because of tardiness.

F.  The above procedures will be applied each semester.
