File:  GCRD - Tutoring for Pay

In order to assist students to achieve academically to the best of their ability and recognizing that District employees are the most qualified persons to offer such assistance, the Board shall allow District employees to tutor students for monetary remuneration.

In order to accomplish the above in an efficient manner, the following guidelines shall apply:

1.    District employees willing to make themselves available for tutoring services should make their desire known to the director of curriculum together with the subjects they are qualified to tutor.

2.    All requests for tutoring services shall be referred to the director of curriculum.  The director of curriculum shall advise persons requesting tutoring services of all District employees qualified to tutor in the subject area in question.  It shall be up to the person requesting the tutoring to choose from the available tutors, if any, and make all necessary arrangements.  Fees shall be paid directly to the tutor.

3.    School facilities may be used if the building principal approves the request.  These requests shall have a low priority.

4.    District employees offering tutoring services are cautioned to be aware of possible conflict of interest charges and are encouraged to avoid questionable circumstances.

5.    All tutoring sessions shall be conducted after contractual obligations with the District are met.

6.    Under no circumstances shall District employees be allowed to advertise or solicit with regard to their service during regularly scheduled hours.

7.    The time after regular school hours during which the teachers are required by contract to remain in the school building shall be used to assist students and to perform other duties connected with the contractual arrangement between the District and the employee.  No charge shall be made for these services.
